Outfits Not Just Clothes

Post   Post Post   Post     Post Post   Post   Grey is a go-to color for me. I think it can be so chic, especially worn monochromatically, or with just a hint of color. One time I did a count of how many grey "bottoms" were in my closet. Including shorts, cropped trouers, pants, and skirts I topped off at 28, so yeah... The #YearofNoShopping continues on and I think I'm covered on the grey front.

      From my angle looking down it appears that the feathers are more like flames!   dress/bracelet- Le tote , trench-Asos(similar here ), necklace- Bauble Bar , tights-ModCloth(plus size version here ), heels-gifted, sunnies- Mikkat Market   I felt like this dress had a 60's air hostess vibe, so I kind of went with that in picking these oxford loafer-esque heels I got from a friend's closet clean-out. They make me think of Carnaby Street, 1968. Not that I was around at that time, nor have ever been to London, but I feel confidant in recognizing the aesthetic via movies like Blowup and the original Alfie . The peacock tights add to the sense of '60's twee. I do have some doubts that I might be a bit too old for this type of look.  Doing vintage-inspired outfitting is easier to pull off the younger you are, at least in my mind. I would love some 30+ ladies to prove me wrong.

      Forewent a necklace so as not to compete with the detailing here.         shirt/bracelet-Le Tote, blazer /trousers(similar here )-Jcrew Factory, heels-Target(sort of similar here )    So yeah, I forgot my sunglasses this day and was very self-conscious about facial expression in these pics. I am NOT a model and I have no clue what to do with my face in pictures. I just stand-up straight and hope for the best.  In terms of outfitting, it's pretty standard here, I just went with color coordination for the shit and cropped trousers. My one concern with these pants is that they come off very "holiday" which isn't necessarily a bad thing. But, holiday dressing can be tricky, especially with red and green in one garment.  Its raining here and Pittsburgh and my umbrella broke this morning, wah wah wah...   

This bracelet is actually a necklace wrapped around my wrist.   The micro-capped sleeves make this feel like more than a "vest," it's in the realm of sleeveless jacket. "vest"/booties-Forever 21(similar here and sort of kind of similar boot here ), pants-Jcrew(similar here ), shirt-BCBG(similar here ), belt-Gap(similar here ), necklace-H&M(more necklaces here ), "bracelet"/rings- Jewel Mint   There are a lot of variations happening in this outfit. First there's the vest/sleeveless-jacket hybrid that I wore as an alternative to a blazer for work last week.  Then there's the long-sleeved tee worn instead of a blouse or button-up shirt. And finally, the woven chain necklace as bracelet. I can't decide if I prefer the vest left opened or buttoned? Buttoned provides a pulled in/cinched waist, but left open has a fun "kicked out" flared effect that counters nicely with the baggier cropp...

But, beyond that I can't believe I was sporting shorts and no jacket this past Saturday! It's OCTOBER! When, things are unseasonably warm I like to go black, white, and grey. I prefer to keep things neutral, as opposed to wearing bright colors/patterns in summer silhouettes when it's officially fall. 

This tiger is staring you down! sweater/jacket-Asos(similar here and here ), shirt/ skirt -Jcrew Factory(similar shirt  here ), ring/necklace- Jewel Mint , bracelet- Cookie Lee , boots-Target(sort of similar here )  I've done this shirt-sweater combo on the blog here and IRL several times.  Switched up things with a textured skirt and leather jacket for this outfit. This is such a perfect fall look, the colors, the textures, the layers, the attitude!
