I felt like this dress had a 60's air hostess vibe, so I kind of went with that in picking these oxford loafer-esque heels I got from a friend's closet clean-out. They make me think of Carnaby Street, 1968. Not that I was around at that time, nor have ever been to London, but I feel confidant in recognizing the aesthetic via movies like Blowup and the original Alfie. The peacock tights add to the sense of '60's twee. I do have some doubts that I might be a bit too old for this type of look. Doing vintage-inspired outfitting is easier to pull off the younger you are, at least in my mind. I would love some 30+ ladies to prove me wrong.

40 Year Old Cottagecore

Rent the Runway to the Rescue

So after the semi-disastrous dress vote from last week I took the stiletto by the heel, aka reserved this Slate & Willow dress from Rent the Runway for the wedding in July. Slate & Willow I had my eye on this as a possible outfit for the Tilda Swinton event I attended last month (fancy I know!) But, ended up going pretty casual since it was just a film screening. An AMAZING screening, but not a dressy affair nonetheless. Anyway, this striped sheath has so many good reviews from a variety of fellow renters in all shapes and sizes, I didn't see one unflattering user pic, so I'm fairly confident this frock will serve my needs come July.
