Uniqlo Floral Pants, which Shoe Goes Best?

Hello Friends! Another comparison post, this time the same pair of pants worn not that long ago or as far apart from each other. Both of these outfits were worn in 2021, the first from January.

Original post here

I paired these floral pants from Uniqlo with a cropped sweater top from Mango, a long windowpane duster, and combat boots both from Nordstrom. My thinking here was to let the print of the pants dictate the rest of the look and I wanted to go with a long and lean silhouette. So a neutral black top and a topper with a contrasting print in the same color family as the pants.  With a wider-leg bottom I'm of a mixed bag when it comes to the shoe choice. Here, since I was going for long and lean the heeled boot seem the correct call.

Later that Spring in this post....

For this outfit I went with an all-black top half with a turtleneck from Gap and a jacket also from Nordstrom, again taking a cue from a color in the pants' print and then white sneakers, which also take a color from the print. The silhouette here is a bit more cropped in terms of horizontal hems of the wide-leg and squareness of the leather jacket. I love the freshness of these sneakers against the print, which comes across in the detail shot, but I don't know if the edgier biker jacket was the way to go with these pants. Maybe the sneakers with these bottoms would pair better with an oversized, half-tucked button-up on a warmer day, no outwear required? Maybe some to try when the weather warms up... watch this space!

In the meantime your thoughts, combat boots with a duster, or sneakers with a leather jacket?

Thanks for reading.

40 Year Old Cottagecore

dress-Anthropologie(more options here ), sunnies- DIFF Eyewear , necklace- Benevolence LA , bag-- Shiraleah , sandals- Born I first became aware of Cottagecore earlier this summer and found it to be an aesthetic I can appreciate and find aspirational , but was not necessarily a style that aligned with my wheelhouse. Well as I've been growing my hair during covid quarantine and having picked up this dress as seen here , I felt that I was ready to tackle #cottagecore here on my 40th birthday!!! Yep, that's right today I turn 40 (but I don't look it). And while it's been a year like no other, I feel excited for my next year, decade, chapter of my life. I think it's fair to say I'm done having babies and ready to move on from the chaos of very little children to the chaos of big kids.  I no longer feel like I have something to proof in my work, writing, sense of self. I'm just going to enjoy and be grateful for the many blessings of family, friends, health, a...

Rent the Runway to the Rescue

So after the semi-disastrous dress vote from last week I took the stiletto by the heel, aka reserved this Slate & Willow dress from Rent the Runway  for the wedding in July.  Slate & Willow I had my eye on this as a possible outfit for the Tilda Swinton event I attended last month (fancy I know!) But, ended up going pretty casual since it was just a film screening. An AMAZING screening, but not a dressy affair nonetheless.  Anyway, this striped sheath has so many good reviews from a variety of fellow renters in all shapes and sizes, I didn't see one unflattering user pic, so I'm fairly confident this frock will serve my needs come July. And here are some pics of former rentals over the last few years: Nanette Lapore Elie Tahari Elie Tahari Robert Rodriguez Halston Heritage Interesting in renting something for yourself here this summer, use this link , to get $20 off your first rental. Annie Lennox Realness!

Love the tuxedo detail of these cropped pants. coat/pants-Jcrew(similar here and here ), blazer-Zara(similar here ), shirt-Asos(sort of similar here ), shoes-DSW(really cool here ), gloves-Brian Atwood for Neiman Marcus/Target(more gloves here ), sunglasses-Banana Republic(similar here ) I'm feeling very Annie Lennox circa Eurythmics in this outfit, eh? Most times wearing a coat is a necessity, not necessarily an intricate part of the outfit, but here it really makes the look. And even though the blazer is covered up the hints of it, almost like a lining, work break up an all grey/white look.  And now for your viewing pleasure  Sweet Dreams:   Have a great weekend!
