I'm of two minds when it comes to hats. First, as a short-haired lady I NEED to wear a hat in winter, and I usually go for your standard knit beanie:
A wool version with some fun graphics could be quite the pick-me-up during these cold and gloomy days.
And, while the weddings I have on my 2017 docket aren't super fancy, a girl can dream about fantasy fascinators, right?
So, while the forecast is all storms and snow it's a great time to up one's hat accessory game!
A basic black, or grey, or white usually serves me fairly well.
But, lately I've been considering some more playful options!
Cats! Asos
Pom Poms! Asos
Secondly, there are hats for outfitting!
Very serious in a black fedora
And while, I don't often accessorize with hats, I'm thinking from these above shots it may behoove me (from a style standpoint vs. a functional one) to incorporate different types of head wear this winter, to keep things fresh.
A cool-grey fedora = a very chic wintertime topper, no?
I'm also considering berets, which were featured on many Fall/Winter 2016 runways.
Also, ball caps are a easy alternative, and a great transitional accessory from winter-to-spring!
Can't go wrong with a basic black!
