Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

 I haven't (and probably won't go) see the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle's movie, but I was a huge fan as a kid. My brother and I had the Nintendo game AND matching twin sheet sets on our trundle beds at my Dad's house, so yeah we kept it #real! Anyway, I picked up this hat on a whim and then I just kind of hipstered it out for a Labor Day BBQ. This dress is actually two pieces, a knit slip from another layered dress I got years ago at ModCloth under a separate tank dress with an asymmetrical hem also from ModCloth. I'm really feeling asymmetrical these past few days, check it out in tunic form in this post. My go-to slip-ons for this summer and some leaf-pendant necklaces completed the look.

Rent the Runway to the Rescue

So after the semi-disastrous dress vote from last week I took the stiletto by the heel, aka reserved this Slate & Willow dress from Rent the Runway  for the wedding in July.  Slate & Willow I had my eye on this as a possible outfit for the Tilda Swinton event I attended last month (fancy I know!) But, ended up going pretty casual since it was just a film screening. An AMAZING screening, but not a dressy affair nonetheless.  Anyway, this striped sheath has so many good reviews from a variety of fellow renters in all shapes and sizes, I didn't see one unflattering user pic, so I'm fairly confident this frock will serve my needs come July. Annie Lennox Realness!

Love the tuxedo detail of these cropped pants. coat/pants-Jcrew(similar here and here ), blazer-Zara(similar here ), shirt-Asos(sort of similar here ), shoes-DSW(really cool here ), gloves-Brian Atwood for Neiman Marcus/Target(more gloves here ), sunglasses-Banana Republic(similar here ) I'm feeling very Annie Lennox circa Eurythmics in this outfit, eh? Most times wearing a coat is a necessity, not necessarily an intricate part of the outfit, but here it really makes the look. And even though the blazer is covered up the hints of it, almost like a lining, work break up an all grey/white look.  And now for your viewing pleasure  Sweet Dreams:   Have a great weekend!
