The Style Up

I've been a subscriber to Style Up for almost a year now, which entails daily emails with outfit inspirations based on the weather forecast, my work setting, and my personal style profile. You may recall my mention of it in this post . Anyway, I just wanted to highlight the diversity and creativity of the looks they've sent me.  This is today's Style Up. Love, love, love the coat! Another great coat.  Here's a more casual look. Nothing revolutionary, but another way to add some details to a basic look with a printed scarf. And that lip is popping! Sometimes they send pictures from online retail sites, which is less than ideal because you don't get a sense of "real world" styling and fit. But hey, this at least features a plaid trousers, and you know I love me some plaid.  The pics of real woman in real fashion for real life is very inspiring when I'm putting together my outfits. Granted, I don't have the exact same pie

From Gaping to Va Va Va Boob

coat-Jcrew(similar here ), dress/necklace- Le Tote , boots- DSW , leggings-Forever 21(similar here ), ring-Gifted In yesterday's post I was semi-lamenting my bigger bust causing gaps in a button-up shirt. In this dress the large bosom is being celebrating! "Hello Ladies!" It's a well established fact here at Outfits Not Just Clothes that I love me some menswear/androgyny styles. But, it's good to switch it up and go for the chic and sexy, every so often. I know Mr. Keller appreciates it. I wouldn't normally pick this kind of pattern to wear, but I do like how the rope effect in the print is picked up on in the necklace. Way to go Le Tote !  Always nice when the pieces you send me coordinate in subtle ways.

Gaping Issues

As a bustier gal I often find that great button-down shirts are sometimes not my friend, even if they fit wonderfully everywhere else on my torso.  Case in point: blouse-ModCloth(way cool option here ), blazer- Banana Republic , pants-Jcrew(similar here ), necklace- Le Tote , pin-Mikkat Market(that came with a jacket similar to this one ), loafers-Zara(similar here )  Okay, so maybe you don't see it, but I think the gap around the bust in this shirt is way obvious in these pics. You may recall this same shirt in this  post  and  here  where the gaping wasn't an issue, but I REALLY wanted the necklace-under-collar look to work. Regardless, the bright, blue cropped pants keep this outfit fun (if not weather appropriate)  and yes this is the same blazer from yesterday's post . What can I tell you? A black blazer is such an essential and can be worn so many ways.

Commonwealth Press T-Shirt

blazer- Banana Republic , tee- Commonwealth Press , jeans-Asos(similar here ), belt-Gap(similar here ), sneakers-Converse(similar here ) I had the pleasure last week to sit down and interview Dan Rugh from Commonwealth Press for a piece I've yet to write for The Union Hall Times . Dan gave me this tee and of course I immediately started thinking of ways to wear it. Jeans and sneakers are pretty standard, but this blazer, belt, and cuff elevate this into a fun, punk look.  I'm thinking there may also be some interesting layering opportunities in store for this shirt. You'll just have to check back and see.

The Wait is Over Hunty!

Tonight on Logo RuPaul's Drag Race Season 6 premieres and I am SUPER pumped. It'll be all T, no shade up in this piece TONIGHT! I have no clue what I'll be wearing for the viewing, but you can bet it won't be PJs and a sloppy tee. No, Miss Thing, Momma Ru deserves more than from me. Take in the fierocity! Of course it's too soon to pick a favorite contestant, even though I do have my eye on a few from their bios and pics over at NewNowNext . I tend to connect with the comedy and vintage-inspired queens (Lord knows I love me a good Cher impression) more than the beauty pageant girls.  But we shall see... all I know for sures is that there's nothing like a good tuck to start the week off! And with that sentiment remember: "We are all born naked, the rest is drag!" RuPaul

Anchors & Plaid

My pin is for "The Gaffer" a collection of poetry coming out in 2015 from Red Hen Press by fellow poet and Madwoman Celeste Gainey. Yay Celeste! blazer/pants-Gap(similar here and here ), shirt-Anthologie(similar here ), necklace-H&M(similar here ), bracelet/ring- Jewel Mint , flats- Jcrew Factory Seems like I had a theme of mixing fun prints with plaids this week, check Wednesday's post here . You can go semi-crazy with prints if the colors are consistent with each other.  The blazer's neon trim gives the overall outfit some pop and polish. Full disclosure this "shirt" is actually a pajama top, but come on this plaid is too cool for just sleeping in, right?

Johnny Weir Style Inspiration

So I'm not a huge fan of the Olympics, but I AM a huge fan of stylish, grandiose, witty commentators and I have been LOVING Mr. Johnny Weir 's style and antics. Here's a few looks from Instagram Love this pairing of Kellygreen and grey, and of course the accessories.  This is giving me jumpsuit-statement-necklace realness. Ruffled shirt--YES!! Girl, no words, except Fierocity! I love the silhouette he's rocking of the skinny, solid pants with colorful statement blazer up top. Plus, the accessories in each outfit take it up a notch. He's really a great example of androgyny/gender-less style.  And you know I love my androgyny. Regardless of the particular looks above, the real inspiration here is having the confidence to wear what you like, experiment, and dress for yourself!
