Militant Newsie

jacket-H&M(similar here ), cardigan-Vintage(similarish here ), tunic- ModCloth , joggers / necklace / bracelet -- Le Tote , boots-LL Bean(similar here ) This OOTD is a variation of my mom uniform from yesterday's post   however, instead of being more laid-back sporty, this style is a odd mix of what I'm calling "Militant Newsie". This olive green military-esque bomber may not seem like the obvious outerwear with these plaid joggers, but it weirdly works, I think in a big part to these boots. What say you?

Mom Uniform

jacket-Gap(similar here  and here ), fleece- Old Navy , tunic- Cherish via Pavement , leggings- Girlfriend Collective , watch-Michael Kors(similar here ), sunnies-Target(similar here ), sneakers-Vans(more options here ) So, it's been a minute, eh? Well with the changing of the clocks and the turning of the season, I'm hoping to be post more often. Winters are always more difficult for outfitting, and the past few months have been particularly rough with two kids in tow.  Speaking of kids, this OOTD represents my go-to mom style. Leggings (because I just can't w/ most of my pants right now) a tunic-style top (to cover my bum and front business), my handy fleece zip-up, statement-ish outerwear, and slip-on shoes. I tend to lean toward "sporty mom" but I do admire the "boho-earthy moms" with their maxi dresses, scarves, and boots. I also enjoy the "cute moms" in darkwash jeans and French-style striped shirts....

A Romantic Wintry Mix

Another flat layout for these wintry days. ❆🀩 sweater- Summer & Sage via Le Tote , skirt-Uniqlo(similar here ), necklace- chloe + isabel , flats- Dr. Scholl's This sweater is the epitome of dark winter romance with the flecked ombre effect giving me dirty snowfall realness.  I'm not too crazy about the collarbone cutouts, but you can't deny overall it pairs beautifully with this square-cut crystal necklace and black circle skirt.  And yes, before you ask, this skirt DOES have pockets! I may be a romantic, but I still want functionality.

A Bold Flat Layout

So, it's been a cold and dark (weather-wise) and insanely busy time for this stylish working mother of two. Outfit shooting is quite low on the priority list at the moment. HUHEVAH that dose not mean I haven't been outfitting, I just haven't been able to get pics. BUT, I remembered a great way to photograph outfits.... the flat layout!!!!! tunic/pants-Old Navy(similar here  & here ) , sweater- Banana Republic , coat-H&M(similar here ), flats- Dr. Scholl's , necklace-Gifted Truth, this OOTD was worn last week on a unseasonably warm day, so that whole cold and dark thing really doesn't apply. But when you DO get a warm burst mid-winter it's a great opportunity for a pop-of-color like these pink cropped trousers. I took a cue from this bold hue and went a little crazy with some clashing, yet coordinated patterns. Black n' white stripes and polka dots, black and beige plaid, and on-trend leopard print. It's certainly a refreshing ...

Bloody Mary Fest!

Two weeks ago my husband and I attended the 1st Annual Pittsburgh Sunday Best Bloody Mary Festival  and it was a beautiful afternoon for some winter day drinking! shirt/jeans-Anthropologie(similar here & here ), vest/hat-J.Crew(similar here & here ), necklace- chloe + isable , ring- Le Tote (similar here ), boots- Columbia Sportswear This layered OOTD isn't setting the style world on fire, but it's getting the job done of being warm, comfortable, and featuring a bit of flair with the woven pattern in the button-down and contrasting pinstripe of the vest. Also, the jewelry is a polished touch, especially with the silvery VIP bracelet. We definitely VIPed it up check out some drink pics-- This bloodie from Luke Wholey's came in 2nd overall, and had the BEST garnish game hands down!  Yep, that's an Old Bay rim job with a deconstructed pizza garnish from Bado's A beer-mixed bloody from Round Corner Cantina ...

What a View!

cardigan-via Le Tote , tunic-Old Navy(similar here ), leggings-Zara(similar here ), boots- Sam Edelman via Nordstrom , sunnies-Target(similar here ) What an amazing background, right? We found ourselves up on Mount Washington last weekend and were able to get some quick outfit pics. And without meaning to, I'm matching the landscape in my grey colorbock cardi over a black n' white polka-dot tunic!
