Sunday Style

 This past Sunday we took a little trip down to the Waterfront to check out the labyrinth and I took the opportunity to tryout this look. A mash-up of nautical and preppy pieces, with a bit of sportiness. Warning--there is a very weird/enlarged picture of my ear below... 👂

Picked up this amazing designer blazer last fall at a local consignment store. This shirt (very old) is from a designer collab with Target, and these pants are the standard cropped trouser I tend to favor. I've been recently experimenting with clip-on earrings, as my piercings from childhood have long ago grown closed.  I've paired these earrings with this necklace in prior outfits, added them to this look taking inspiration from the top button of the shirt.  I've seen so many looks pairing suiting with sneakers, like these from Who What Wear to finish off this outfit.

40 Year Old Cottagecore

Rent the Runway to the Rescue

So after the semi-disastrous dress vote from last week I took the stiletto by the heel, aka reserved this Slate & Willow dress from Rent the Runway  for the wedding in July.  Slate & Willow I had my eye on this as a possible outfit for the Tilda Swinton event I attended last month (fancy I know!) But, ended up going pretty casual since it was just a film screening. An AMAZING screening, but not a dressy affair nonetheless.  Anyway, this striped sheath has so many good reviews from a variety of fellow renters in all shapes and sizes, I didn't see one unflattering user pic, so I'm fairly confident this frock will serve my needs come July. Annie Lennox Realness!

Love the tuxedo detail of these cropped pants. coat/pants-Jcrew(similar here and here ), blazer-Zara(similar here ), shirt-Asos(sort of similar here ), shoes-DSW(really cool here ), gloves-Brian Atwood for Neiman Marcus/Target(more gloves here ), sunglasses-Banana Republic(similar here ) I'm feeling very Annie Lennox circa Eurythmics in this outfit, eh? Most times wearing a coat is a necessity, not necessarily an intricate part of the outfit, but here it really makes the look.
