Returning to the Classics

blazer/pants/necklace-J.Crew(similar here, here, and here), shirt-Gap(similar here), loafers-G.H. Bass

So many wonderful outfitting elements happening in this OOTD. First, it's so seasonally appropriate with all the lovely autumn foliage in the background, can you even stand it! 🍂 Then there's two of my favorite prints--stripes & plaid--and one of my go-to styling tips of mixing those patterns together. I've got some androgynous stylings going on with the navy blazer and matching weejuns. Lastly, is a statement necklace, which historically as been my accessory-of-choice.

Oh but wait, there's one more thing... I've gone back to my classic red hair! I've been muddling around with blond and brown for the past year and decided somewhat spur of the moment to return to red here before the holidays hit.  I've been through various body transitions over the past few years, what with having babies and all. I may not be completely done having babies, but for the next 2-3 years we're happy to be a family of four. As my youngest is approaching toddler-hood I feel that a haze has been lifted. I'm feeling not so much like my old self (that woman is long gone) but a renewed sense of self and sense of style. Returning to red has unintentionally symbolized this renewal . Wow, that got a bit deep. 😉😄😍😊

40 Year Old Cottagecore

dress-Anthropologie(more options here ), sunnies- DIFF Eyewear , necklace- Benevolence LA , bag-- Shiraleah , sandals- Born I first became aware of Cottagecore earlier this summer and found it to be an aesthetic I can appreciate and find aspirational , but was not necessarily a style that aligned with my wheelhouse. Well as I've been growing my hair during covid quarantine and having picked up this dress as seen here , I felt that I was ready to tackle #cottagecore here on my 40th birthday!!! Yep, that's right today I turn 40 (but I don't look it). And while it's been a year like no other, I feel excited for my next year, decade, chapter of my life. I think it's fair to say I'm done having babies and ready to move on from the chaos of very little children to the chaos of big kids.  I no longer feel like I have something to proof in my work, writing, sense of self. I'm just going to enjoy and be grateful for the many blessings of family, friends, health, a...

Rent the Runway to the Rescue

So after the semi-disastrous dress vote from last week I took the stiletto by the heel, aka reserved this Slate & Willow dress from Rent the Runway  for the wedding in July.  Slate & Willow I had my eye on this as a possible outfit for the Tilda Swinton event I attended last month (fancy I know!) But, ended up going pretty casual since it was just a film screening. An AMAZING screening, but not a dressy affair nonetheless.  Anyway, this striped sheath has so many good reviews from a variety of fellow renters in all shapes and sizes, I didn't see one unflattering user pic, so I'm fairly confident this frock will serve my needs come July. And here are some pics of former rentals over the last few years: Nanette Lapore Elie Tahari Elie Tahari Robert Rodriguez Halston Heritage Interesting in renting something for yourself here this summer, use this link , to get $20 off your first rental. You're welcome!

Annie Lennox Realness!

Love the tuxedo detail of these cropped pants. coat/pants-Jcrew(similar here and here ), blazer-Zara(similar here ), shirt-Asos(sort of similar here ), shoes-DSW(really cool here ), gloves-Brian Atwood for Neiman Marcus/Target(more gloves here ), sunglasses-Banana Republic(similar here ) I'm feeling very Annie Lennox circa Eurythmics in this outfit, eh? Most times wearing a coat is a necessity, not necessarily an intricate part of the outfit, but here it really makes the look. And even though the blazer is covered up the hints of it, almost like a lining, work break up an all grey/white look.  And now for your viewing pleasure  Sweet Dreams:   Have a great weekend!
