Tomorrow is the official start of spring and one of the hardest outfitting season--SPRINTER! I've been posting sprinter looks for literally years, as seen here, here, here, and here. And the styles I keep coming back to are neutral in tone, with subtle patterns, featuring chic, yet functional outerwear. This OOTD is no exception, with it's black and grey palette, and amazing car coat aka "coatigan" from J.Jill.
Why is it so hard to dress for this season? Well, the layer game can get complicated, with chilly mornings and warmish afternoons, but beyond that, when the air starts to have those hints of spring it's hard not to bust out your best warm-weather wear. Restraint is key, like in this dress. The black and grey checks are straight-up winter, but the black floral-esque silhouettes on top are a subtle nod to the blooms of spring. Plus, I like that dark romance shit.
Of course there are no rules for dressing this transitional season. If you feel like donning neon florals before the daffodils bloom, by all means go for it. Meanwhile I'll be here relishing in my shades of grey and black rocking the fuck out of this coatigan!
