Plaid/Tweed/Neutrals

Okay I look a bit pissed here, and in truth I was. It had been a rough day.  blazer-J.Crew(similar here ), blouse- I Madeline via Le Tote , skirt-Anthropologie(similarish here ), boots-Kelly & Katie(similar here ) via DSW , necklace-Adia Kibur(more necklaces here ) via Le Tote , bracelet- Jewel Mint , ring- Cookie Lee It can't get more classic fall than plaid and tweed. The tones here are all technically neutral, but I think the pairing of mauve, beige, black(with hints of aubergine), and brown really pop! Especially, in the close up pics. Truth be told the blazer was a last minute addition and it could be bit more fitted... Oh well, the plaid shirt and tweedy skirt still make a great combination. Happy Halloween, I hope to post pics of costumes next week!

Recent Buys & Thoughts on Holiday Outfitting

Last week I purchased the following garments: Gap I'm not entirely sold on these cords. I also have my eye on a pair from L.L. Bean, these may get returned.  Style Mint Regardless of which pair of red cords I end up keeping I'm loving the idea of wearing them with this teal sweater, I'm thinking "Hello Family Christmas Eve Outfit!" Banana Republic I had my eye on this dress for a while and when it went on sale I snatched it up quick. I see this for work, for dinners out, for girls' night, and is a contender for the office holiday party in December.   Banana Republic And this lacy shirt will add some nice texture and intrigue to more casual all-black outfits this coming winter. I REALLY like how they styled this in the pick w/ the collared shirt and statement necklace. I also see this working over a chambray shirt OR a striped long-sleeved tee. Overall, I've decided to lean toward black n' white ensembles for dressier holi...

Plaid Pants Make All The Difference

blazer- Gap , pants-J.Crew Factory(similarish here ), tee- LNA via Le Tote , bracelet-Adia Kibur(similar here ) via Let Tote , heels- Kelly & Kate via DSW , necklace-Gifted, sweatshirt-Target(similar here ) There's subtly a lot going on in this outfit. There's the laid-back casual vibe of the T-shirt, the around-the-waist-tied sweatshirt, a menswear touch in the blazer, then the classic plaid for fall, with grownup-lady heels, and a bit of vintage flair with the necklace. Sounds like a lot right? But, I think it all came together here.  This sweatshirt around the waist was last seen here .  This may be a mini-trend if only for myself.

Vest Much

vest- J.Crew , shirt- Joseph Altazurra for Target , pants-Urban Outfitters(sort of similar here ), booties-Madden Girl(sort of similar here ), sunnies-Ralph Lauren(sort of similar here ), necklace- Lucky Feather /Gifted It's no secret I love to rock a vest, as evidenced by this post , here , here , AND here . With this outfit I'm vested for some utility-urban-prep-autumnal chic action. I love pairing pinstripes with tweed and these brown trousers are a great foundation for the pattern and crisp colors of this shirt and vest. For my next outing I'm thinking of swinging in the opposite direction and going for something more edgy, maybe even punk for this vest.  We shall see...

Sweater, Skirt, Scarf, & Boots

skirt/sweater-H&M(sort of similar skirt here   sweater here ), trench-Asos(similar here ), scarf-Gifted, boots-DSW(similar here ), necklace- Cookie Lee , bracelet- Michael Kors , rings- Jewel Mint , sunnies-Ralph Lauren(similar here ) First off I LOVE this color combo of purple-ish and saffron, just so perfect for fall. This skirt is fitted just so, but you can't tell in these pics because it was on the chilly side and I didn't want to take my trench off, so trust me.  Overall, this is a great example of taking a general concept for an outfit like a sweater, skirt, scarf, and boots and putting them together for a striking look.  Tonight I'l be at Nightmare on Hellsworth sponsored by the Delta Foundation   tickets are still available.  And if you see a Marie Antoinette there, chances are it's me! I got a wig and everything!
