Party Skirt

Had a little cocktail fun last week.  And yes that IS Baby Jesus in the backround, but that didn't slow me down!


This skirt is supposed to be pleated and really needs ironing.

The shoes are very preppy and I like to pair them with more girly/fun items like yellow tights

Having fun with color in this outfit.  Ideally, this skirt should be ironed, or steamed so the pleats pop, but I didn't have time to do so before getting my drink on this particular evening.  Other than that slight faux paux its all about mixing color and pattern with this outfit.  I did tone it down with these loafer pumps.  I think a sick high red heel would have been too much and let's face it, there's some naughty fun in wearing a school-girl vibe outfit whilst having a cocktail. (I may have used"whilst" imporperly, but I'm boning up for my Downton Abbey viewing party.)

Rent the Runway to the Rescue

So after the semi-disastrous dress vote from last week I took the stiletto by the heel, aka reserved this Slate & Willow dress from Rent the Runway  for the wedding in July.  Slate & Willow I had my eye on this as a possible outfit for the Tilda Swinton event I attended last month (fancy I know!) But, ended up going pretty casual since it was just a film screening. An AMAZING screening, but not a dressy affair nonetheless.  Anyway, this striped sheath has so many good reviews from a variety of fellow renters in all shapes and sizes, I didn't see one unflattering user pic, so I'm fairly confident this frock will serve my needs come July. Annie Lennox Realness!

Love the tuxedo detail of these cropped pants. coat/pants-Jcrew(similar here and here ), blazer-Zara(similar here ), shirt-Asos(sort of similar here ), shoes-DSW(really cool here ), gloves-Brian Atwood for Neiman Marcus/Target(more gloves here ), sunglasses-Banana Republic(similar here ) I'm feeling very Annie Lennox circa Eurythmics in this outfit, eh? Most times wearing a coat is a necessity, not necessarily an intricate part of the outfit, but here it really makes the look.
