Old Trends New Tricks

I've been seeing oversized blazers, wide-leg trousers, sneakers all over the place for a minute now. And when I say "all over" I mean online, obviously. And I find myself embracing these trends because I have so many pieces that fit with this mishmash of business formal, casual, and sporty style blazer/trousers-J.Crew(more options here and here ), tee-Cotton Factory(find something similar from Commonwealth Press ), earrings-Jewel Mint(similar here via Poshmark ), rings- Mejuri , sneakers-H&M(similar here ) The three main pieces of this OOTD are almost vintage, having been purchased over a decade ago in the aughts when I was first starting work in an office and decided I needed to dress formally in trousers and blazers everyday. The whole "dress for the job you want, not the job you have" idea being popular at the time.  Now, the job I have is working from home, so no on cares what you wear!  But, this outfit showcases how trends are cyclical. Overall Spring

I love a good jumpsuit! And it's definitely worth the work to find the style that best fits. I've purchased (and worn) some real clunkers throughout the years, but I think I've hit the sartorial nail on the head with this chambray number! coat-H&M(similar here ), shirt-Uniqlo(similar here ), jumpsuit-Banana Republic(more options here ), boots-L.L. Bean(similar here ), bag-J.Jill(similar here ), jewelry- Mejuri This jumpsuit gives off an overalls vibe, and I've always featured with a layer underneath ( here  and here ). On this grey rainy day I leaned into the overall feeling yet again, layering a patchwork-inspired button-down underneath and donned rugged ankle boots.  Topped things off with a long plaid coat and leather crossbody bag to add a preppy/collegiate twist to an otherwise county, somewhat cabincore style outfit.

Cottagecore for Spring

This past year there's been a cycling through of so many core styles. I actually wrote a whole piece about the various cores focusing on cabincore last fall, here ! For today's post I'm revisiting the #cottagecore dress I featured on my birthday last September! #thisisforty coat-Asos(similar here ), dress-Anthropologie(similar here ), headband-Soel(similar here ), necklace- Benevolence LA , rings- Mejuri , socks- Kansas City Kitty , boots- Landsend I love that this OOTD is made up so so many unique pieces that run the full gamut of shops, stores, and retailers. The dress and boots are from major American brands with both online and brick and mortar locations.  My coat is from a British online-only company, while the rest of my accessories are from independent, women-owned business(I think) with store fronts and online shopping access. Everything comes together for a perfect cottagecore, romantic, bohemian, springtime ensemble!
