Mirror Selfies 2021

Who among us hasn't taken a mirror selfie? And in these pandemic times, there have been days when only the mirror (and my husband and kids) have gotten to witness my outfitting skills. You may recall last year some posts on "What I would have worn to a holiday party"  here and here .    Well for my last post this year I wanted to highlight a few of the year's mirror selfies, most notably those I took in the office bathroom on the days I was at an actually place of business, not my third floor (drafty) den.  blazer-Zara(more options here ), cami- LilySilk pants-Gap(similar here ) loafer-Anne Klein(similar here ) I posted this on  Instagram  in September, as an early return-to-the-office look.  Wanted something not too-over-the-top, but elevated with a pop! And she was accessorized with RBG!  RBG Pin- Wildfang (currently available here ) sweater- Gap , pants- Anthropologie (similar here ), loafers-Anne Klein(similar here ) What can I sa...

Holiday Outfit Formula

One of my standard go-to outfit formulas around the holiday season is layering a sweater over a dress, revolutionary I know... 🤨 and truth be told, a sweater/dress combo can veer toward the dowdy, as kind of seen here . But it can also be a bit romantic... cardigan-Ava via Le Tote , dress--Boden(similar here ) earrings-- Wisteria Sky Boutique via Etsy , sunnies- Diff Eyewear , loafer--Anne Klein(similar here ) For this take on a sweater with a dress I went with a nipped-in cardigan and printed jersey.  The mix of patterns and textures elevate the outfit playing on a sense of whimsy and romance. The jewelry, especially the earrings help dress-up this knit and soft frock. This is definitely a festive, yet subtle look that can be worn over the course of the winter into the beginnings of spring. For why else do we light  up trees and inflate Santas in our yards if not to mark the symbolic death and rebirth of the Sun, shining hope toward the new life of spring!  That ...

A Holiday Sweater

There are so many approaches to holiday dressing. You can go the quirky route with an ugly Christmas sweater, the glitzy route with sparkles, go for a comfy look in matching PJs, or just try to stay warm. For this look I went with a classic go-to outfit uniform, sweater over a dress.  sweater-Saks Off Fifth(more options here ), dress-Gap(similar here ), tights-Target, loafers- G. H. Bass , sunnies- Diff Eyewear I love the idea of fair isle sweater for holiday wear, it's festive without being too on-the-nose and you can wear all winter long, as I did in previous posts  here and here . For those outfits I went with a more menswear route, here I'm going feminine with a springtime dress. Sure, this may come off a little dowdy, but I'm loving the color story of navy, robin's egg blue, and grey. Plus, there's the general hygge-ness of this look, again a perfect holiday vibe!

Throw a Leather Jacket On It!

Wow, it's been over a month since my last post, which was an outfit I wore my first week back to regularly going into the office .  Well after that first week, I've barely had a normal week since! With my oldest starting kindergarten and Covid-related shutdowns at daycare for my younger daughter it's been a scramble.  So here I am in a leather jacket, button-down, wide-leg trousers, and sneakers. jacket- Nordstrom , shirt/sneakers-H&M(similar here and here ), trousers/belt-Gap(similar here and here ), sunnies- DIFF Eyewear I love finishing off typical office wear looks with this leather jacket.  I added a sporty sense with the sneakers and would totally wear this to work, or drinks, or events like a book party or reading, whenever those are no longer virtual.  Hopefully I'll be back to posting more regularly, we shall see...
