Fun Shorts Friday -- Romper Edition

romper-Uniqlo(more options here ), tank/belt-Old Navy(similar here  and here ), necklace- Benevolence , bracelet- Bayou With Love , shoes- Born There was some debate as to whether or not this romper constitutes as shorts. But after reviewing these shots with the bright blue sky and leafy green hillside I  have deemed rompers eligible for #FunShortsFriday.  I normally wear this summertime staple around the house just with a sports bra because it's easy and soft and has pockets, perfect for lounging or light chores. This was also a comfortable and functional garment after I had my second baby two summers ago, easy access for breastfeeding, and loose on the crotch--essentials for any new mother. 😉👶 For this OOTD I styled it up with a crocheted tank, braided belt, gold jewelry, and my summer shoe of 2020 this sling-back sandal. I love the contrast of these graphic polka dots squares, with the boho bib of the tank grounded by neutral accessories. I also love wearing a layer ...

A Flouncy Top

top- Nordstrom , shorts- Uniqlo , flats- allbirds , sunnies- DIFF Eyewear , watch-Michael Kors(similar here ) You may recall these fabulous shorts in my first #FunShortsFriday post , from almost two months ago. And while, I haven't posted a shorts look every Friday, it's been a fun way to end the week when I do and what I hope is a positive, if small mark, on this summer.  I'd love to see your #FunShortsFriday or #funshortsfriday so use either hashtag and tag me if you post your look, follow me on Facebook , Twitter , or Instagram  I'm all for sharing creativity and style here during this summer of Covid.  Also, t his is like the 1st time (as an adult) that I've worn a summer-classic shirred bodice top. What took me so long? I guess because I thought they were for "girly-girls" or pretty girls or younger girl, or girls thinner (or in better shape) than I. But finding one rendered in black and overcoming those societal expectations on beauty took some time.

Fun Shorts Friday Anchors Away!

blosue-J.Crew(similar here ), shorts-Landsend (similar here ), shoes-DSW(similar here ), sunnies- DIFF Eyewear Going for a nautical version of #FunShortsFriday with these anchor shorts and braided belt . I've had this belt forever and I have no idea where I got it, but it's been quite versatile over the years. You'd think such a bold accessory would only work with a neutral look, however it actually coordinates with all kinds of outfits--colorful casual here, or with a printed dress for work, or with a blazer, jeans, and boots look OR  a bold 80's esque power b*tch .

Heatwave Stripes & Dots

tee , shorts , & sneakers(similar here )- Gap sunnies-Ralph Lauren(similar here ), watch-Michael Kors(similar here ) It's HOT HOT HOT, and I"m keeping it as simple (yet stylish) as possible. I don't know if this is true, but I feel that white denim shorts are naturally more breathable than basic blue cut-offs. Or, that could just be me. They are definitely more crisp and elevate the simple striped tee.  What also elevates these pieces into an outfit are the designer sunglasses and watch. Yes, in regards to higher end accessories, the sneakers are a missed opportunity here. The sandals seen in this post  and here may have been a more chic choice, but I'm in in-between at-home pedis and wanted to counter the stripes in the shirt with some simple polka dots.
