Knit Party Dress

One last party outfit that I would have worn this holiday season if times were not so socially distant.  dress-Saks off Fifth(more options here ), pin- Amazon , tights- Target , heels-DSW(similar here ) The details of this dress, with its texture and scalloped hem are just right for holiday season and perfect for a winter LBD. I love the idea of playing up the cutouts of the hem with a boldly hued tight and matching heel for a long and lean look. When you think of Christmas broaches or pins, the standard fare comes to mind of snowflakes, Santas, holly, etc. But the red trim of this ribbon makes it holiday appropriate, even though an insect is an unexpected adornment to say the least.   Continuing to post these mirror selfies, two things I've realized. 1. I need to clean my mirror, and second, I need to maybe not center-part my hair, or figure out some different lighting.  Going makeup free may not be the best idea... oh the vanity of it all.

What I COULD Have Worn 2020

This year the holiday season has been VERY different with nada holiday parties or gatherings on the calendar. Unlike year's pasts with multiple work parties, visiting friends, family dinners, and New Year's celebrations, this December found us staying home keeping it low key. On some of these past  nights when the kids were put to bed and a glass of wine was poured, I found myself combatting the boredom by playing dress-up with outfits I WOULD have worn to a holiday shindig, and hopefully will wear to festivities in 2021... blouse- Gap , jeans- Levi's , heels-Nine West(similar here ) This simple blouse and jeans look would have been perfect for a family potluck.  And I found these clip-on earrings when cleaning out the attic! I have no clue where they are from...But I stumbled upon this site-- NonPiercedEarring s suit-Asos(similar here ), turtleneck-Gap(similar here ), heels-Nine West(similar here ) necklace-Jewel Mint(available here from Poshmark ) This ombre suit would h

Sweater Style Inspiration

Debating on whether this was a #turtlenecktuesday post, or just a great sweater/style inspiration post... I went with the latter. sweater- Ruhling Woven , shirt-Wildfang(more options here ), trousers-Gap(similar here ), sneakers- H&M , ring- Mejuri , sunnies- Diff Eyewear This OOTD has various points of inspiration Fear of God Pre-Fall 2020 Linda Tol image via The Zoe Report All three of the images above have a relaxed and sporty sophistication, mixing knitwear, menswear-inspired pieces, and athletic touches.  I definitely also took into account artful layering with the elongated shirt hem and played around with the oversized collar of the sweater.  I also love the mix of texture and a bit of print in the stripes. In my last post I pointed out how pinstripes are a great way to get a bit of print into and otherwise solid outfit.  But really any strip will work to create a bit more visual interest from the standard, shirt, pants, sweater combo.  Sneakers are also an easy switch to

Turtleneck Tuesday with Layers

Turtleneck, Layers, & Pull-On Pinstripes coming at you! turtleneck-H&M(similar here ), coatigan-J.Jill(similar here ), pants-Banana Republic Factory(similar here ), coat-Asos(more options here ), boots-LL Bean(similar here ), ring- Mejuri , necklace-Thrifted, sunnies- DIFF Eyewear For this OOTD I layered my beloved coatigan (cardigan/coat hybrid) under a trench for a extra bit of warmth and texture. I always like to approach a mid-layer with the idea that it should bring another element to the overall look, and add sense of coziness.  Speaking of cozy, these pull-on pants are a dream. They have the appearance of a traditional trouser, but the feel of sweats without the worn-out slouch. Plus the pinstripes are a subtle way to work in a bit of print to break up all of the solids. With pull-on pants consider ordering a size down from you normal size to maintain a good fit without the droop.  As for this week's turtleneck, it actually kicked off this whole turtleneck Tuesday j
