Raindrops & Pinstripes

shirt-Anthropologie(similar here ), vest-Thrifted(similar here ), joggers-J.Crew(similar here ), loafers-Target(similar here ) Some may argue that it's too "on point" to wear this shirt on the rainy and windy days. But, I can't help myself, I love the pun of a print matching the weather, don't you? I kept the rest of this look fairly "serious" with pinstriped joggers and a tailored waistcoat. Just so glad we got a break in the rain to get these shots. You can see the wind as my hair is all over the place, which brings some edge to these pics, no?

Birds & Basketweave

blazer- H&M , pants-Uniqlo(more options here ), sweater- J.Crew , loafers- G.H. Bass , watch-Michael Kors(similar here ), scarf-street vendor  Started this week in rustic earth tones here , now it's all cool blues. Sure, we all love the reds, oranges, and dark green for fall, but navy, slate, and icy blue are also great shades to wear for this season. Besides color, this outfit also features some grade A seasonally-appro print mixing, what with the rustic basketweave blazer and darkly whimsical bird print, which features a flying flock--a nod to the migration season we are about to enter.  Nature, Not Just Clothes, eh?

Leather Layers

pants/boot/shirt-Zara(similar here , here , and here ), turtleneck- Gap , vest-Anthropologie(similar here ) It's fall my friends and layers are de rigueur!!!  Here I'm not only layering garments, but also pattern and texture.  With the cotton of the turtleneck, poplin of the shirt, wool of the vest, and leather of the pants it's a fabric extravaganza! But with black as my base color, even with plaid and polka dot prints, this outfit isn't overwhelming, just a great example of fall-fun layers. Plus, it was super cozy to wear and quite on trend .

Mountain Meets Moto

jacket-Asos(similar here ), dress-Uniqlo(similar here ), scarf- American Apparel , belt-Banana Republic Factory Store(more options here ), boots- Payless , rings-similar here from H&M I AM LOVING THIS DRESS!!!! Plaid, flannel, pockets, oversized, its hitting all of my style desires for this season. In my full-blown autumn old-timey fantasies this would be my mountain woman dress that I'd wear weaving blankets, singing folk songs while brushing my daughter's hair, and roaming the woods gathering nuts.  The red moto-jacket brings the look out of the backwoods and onto the streets of Pittsburgh, hence the title post.  Fall is such a great time, style wise to mix and match textrues, patterns, and aesthetics. So go ahead and pair flannel with leather, or lace and tweed. Have pastoral style in the same ensemble as athleisure wear, or go for a vintage and androgynous combo. Nothing is off limits!

Quintessential Seasonal Shift

jacket-Urban Outfitters(similar here ), dress-Madewell(similar here ), shoes-Etienne Aigner(similar here ), bracelet/necklace-Gifted(similarish here and here from Alex and Ani ) Last week we had some pretty high temps for mid-October, so I was still transitional dressing. This sleeveless, knit dress from Madewell was just the thing! The texture and color are very fall-appro, but the silhouette made the 70-degree days bearable. This lightweight jacket provided coverage in the morning, while the sleeves paired up with the dress surprisingly well. I went for earth-tone accessories, again as a nod to fall. Plus, pockets!
