In this post, I FINALLY attempted the dress-over-pants trend and found that simple shapes and a casual silhouette is the best approach. Here, I've taken that same strategy, but applied it to office wear. And in doing so I made the wonderful discovery that a dress over pants, is a genius way to layer on days when it's kind of chilly in the morning, then sort of hot in the afternoon. By mid-afternoon I took the pants off(!!!) and was just wearing a dress, totally comfortable and still office appro! I'm also loving this long/drapey cardigan as an alternative to the blazer, since it almost matches the length of this shift dress. A proper blazer would have made the whole thing too visually messy, and I think if you're going to approach a tricky trend or style, best to keep everything else simple until you feel you've mastered it. And speaking of tricky styles, next up culottes!
