Shirtdress in Action Part 2

vest-Banana Republic(similar "concepts" here and here ), shirtdress- H&M , leggings- Gap , flats- Dr. Scholls , necklace/ring-Jewel Mint(similar here  & here via Poshmark ) It's been well over a decade since " safari chic " was a thing, but I still really gravitate toward this aesthetic for the spring/summer. When you break down this trend it's really about color, like olive/military green, beige, khaki, mixed with black or white and maybe, when done well, a hint of animal print, like these leopard print shoes. I featured this shirtdress/tunic last month with more of an equestrian flair, here . For this OOTD I kept with the leggings, but switched out boots for flats, and blazer for a vest.

Casual Arrows

shirt- Gap , Tee- ModCloth , joggers- Uniqlo , sandals- Earth Origins , necklace-Gifted  Featured this tee last summer with leggings and a denim vest, seen here . Now at a full 8 months preggo it's still serving warm-weather casual style. For this OOTD I went comfortable with joggers and these arch-support sandals because I'm old and my feet are starting to swell. Technically, I didn't need an over-shirt, but felt that a third piece was called for to complete the look. Also, this western-style, snap-button shirt's ombre effect was not manufactured, but achieved through wear and age. And I'm loving that you can get almost an exact version now, even though this shirt is like a decade+ old. A classic never goes out of style.

Designer Touches

blazer-DVF(similarish here ), shirt- Uniqlo , leggings- Gap , scarf-Valentino(more scarves here ), loafers-Zara(similar here )  Sporting a high-low mix of designer pieces and fast fashion in this OOTD. As seen in a post last  week , I've taken one of my standard style uniforms (blazer, button-down, leggings) and given it a maternity twist. Or more specifically a maternity-leggings twist. I don't have many maternity pieces, just a few tops, and half-a-dozen bottoms and have been relying on knitwear, shift dresses, and oversized/loose shirts to see me through. The blazer and scarf really amp up the style factor, as does the mix of purple tones, which play into the Pantone Color of the Year-- Ultra Violet . Not that I pay too much attention to color-trends, but when I already have pieces that fit into the current color story, why not take advantage, right?

The Polka Dots are Bumpin'!

dress- Romacci via Amazon , ballerina wrap- eShakti , necklace-similarish here via Etsy flats- Dr. Scholls , sunnies- Target    Another B&W OOTD for you, this time it's all about polka dots! Really, it's all about making this super-cute (and comfy) maxi dress work appro thanks to the ballerina-esque wrap top and sensible patent flats. I picked up this spaghetti-strapped frock in anticipation of summer maternity leave since it's easy to wear, has nurse-friendly access, pockets, and doesn't require me to necessarily shave my legs. I am LOVING the pockets, which should be no surprise, and while it does have a tent-like tendency, I think this non-maternity piece is quite flattering over my bump and boobs. I'm sure this will be a throw-on-and-go summer staple once baby is here.

Outfitting Go-To's

cardigan-Piperlime(available here via Poshmark ), top- Lula Roe , pants- Gap , shoes- Dr. Scholls , necklace- chloe + isable , sunnies- Target   I love me a black-and-white ensemble no matter the season. But, during the spring/summer in particular it can look very fresh and chic, don't you agree? I've featured this preppy tennis cardi several times before ( here and here ) and it's a great third/thrown-on piece that really brings an outfit together. The necklace and leopard print flats also amp up the style factor on this striped tunic and maternity pants. It's these type of touches that are seeing me through the last weeks of maternity outfitting as my options are becoming more and more limited. But, even for the non-pregnant, accessories and a crisp third piece are great outfitting go-to's for a simple shirt and trousers combo.   Also, my hair is just kind of "happening" right now. I'm at a growing-it-out
