Recent Buys Anthropologie & Uniqlo

This week I picked up a few office essentials for the coming spring/summer.  Cardigan I'm thinking this will be my go-to office cardi when the AC makes it impossible not have another layer at hand. I like that it's neutral, but interesting with the piping and it has pockets!  Vest This vest is definitely more "fall" in terms of the plaid and woolly material, HOWEVER the light grey and pink palette is a nod to springtime, AND vests are great blazer alternatives for warm-weather workwear. Plus, I can just wear all-black underneath and still have an outfit going on, instead of just clothes.  Jumpsuit Technically, I can't wear this to work, but I think with the right topper (like the vest above) I can get away with an uber-comfy jumpsuit for days when I don't have meetings. Plus, this will be a great thrown-on piece for casual days.   Ankle Trousers I have these trousers in black and plaid, and they are great for work. Easy to wear, pro

Library Skirt

A "patchwork" if you will, of library scenes make up the print of this skirt!  blazer- Threadflip , tee-Gap(similar here ), skirt-J.Crew(more skirts here ), boots- Kelly & Katie via DSW (similar here ), nekclace-Martin & Osa, watch- Wegner This skirt, is WAY old, bought back in '07/'08, like here and here this is a piece that was too big pre-baby, but is finding it's way into my wardrobe as my body continues to be in transition. Not wanting to be too preppy I went with a plain old grey tee, but kept the scholarly theme of the skirt going in this blazer. And speaking of transitions, these boots are a great way to leave off the tights of winter, but not blind passersby with my glaringly pale legs. Spring is here, but that doesn't mean my gams are warm-weather ready just yet.

Wild Feminist

tee- Wildfang , shirt-Uniqlo(more shirts here ), leggings- Zara , necklace- Le Tote , sunnies-Borrowed, sneakers- Easy Spirit The tee says is all, amiright? You may recall this post , where I featured my purchase of this t-shirt. Now here it is in action! For such a straight-forward outfit there's really a lot going on. At first this look came about "ass-over-tea-kettle" if you will, but I really love the seamless sense of  style going on here. When taken in parts, this is just a tee w/ leggings, and a shirt. However, the message of this tee, with the camo shirt, and men's sunglasses are pure tomboy, while the leggings are somewhat fem AND super-flattering. The necklace and watch give this a bit of grownup glamour, while the sneakers are kind of an admitted cop-out. These are my "house" sneakers. They literally save my feet after a long day going up and downstairs baby in tow. I needed support for this day, out and about.

Easter Dress

dress - Le Tote , wrap/tights-ModCloth(smiliarish here and here ), heels-Nine West(similar here ), baby-Well, I don't want to get too graphic, but if you don't know where babies come from then you've got bigger problems than this blog can solve...  So yep, this was my Easter Dress this past Sunday. I remember, as a kid, having a new, or at least new-to-me dress each Easter. My brother and I would pose for pictures before church with our baskets in hand, usually freezing as it wasn't quite yet warm enough.  Now, as an adult and new mom I still wanted to celebrate the holiday with a new frock, however with my body in transition and my budget limited I turned to Le Tote to serve my needs. What I love about this overall look is that it reflects the season so well. Here in Pittsburgh, the trees are just staring to bud, and the first flowers of spring are peaking out of their sprouts, just like this black, grey, & white

Event Outfitting

Next month  at the Carnegie Musuem of Art  I'll be attending a screening of the film The Seasons in Quincy: Four Portraits of John Berger I hate to be a dilettante, but alas that is the nature of this modern age of pop culture over true art, blah blah blah... Anyway I don't know much about John Berger, but I DO know that my spirit animal, Tilda Swinton(!!!!) will be attending the screening to introduce the film as one of its producers and directors!!!!! Tilda in Pittsburgh, talking and walking in real life and I have officially lost my shit ready to burn down the house!!!!!! So, yes I need a haircut ASAP, and I need to figure out what I'm wearing. Obvie I need to put together something avant garde, but this is still Pittsburgh, not Paris so some level of real world wearability is called for. Tickets and more info on this event here ! Initial outfitting thoughts,  maybe go with some recent purchases like this wrap dress. Finery  Or, these culottes...
