Peplum & Culottes

coat-H&M(similar here ), scarf-J.Crew(more options here ), sweater- Le Tote , culottes-Mango(similar here ), boots-Nine West(similar here ) This OOTD can be surprisingly versatile when it comes to shapes, angles, and silhouette, not to mention the layering potential.  You may recall I sported this cardigan last spring with pink pants here .  For a winter wearing I've kept the palette black and white, and played with proportion balancing the wider leg of these culottes with the cinched peplum of the cardigan. The infinity scarf, with it's various loops, changes up the neckline, and the peacoat provides some sharp edges to the knitwear pieces. Also, this cardi features snaps as opposed to buttons, so you could easily layer pieces underneath. You can't see it, but I have a black knit tank as a base layer on this sweater. Like I said, surprisingly versatile!

Black, White, & Brown....?

coat-H&M(similar here ), dress- Le Tote , loafers- Anne Klein via DSW You don't often think of black, white, and brown as complimentary colors in a single look. However, when these shades appear in the same piece of clothing, like this sweater dress, it really does the work of coordinating for you. Of course, not all tones of brown, or white, for that matter pair well against black. In this knit, the "brown" is more copper or a dark burnt orange, while the "white" leans toward beige. These tonal tweaks create a cohesive palette in one garment for a statement piece that is an outfit within itself. I let this knit dress do the heavy lifting, styling-wise, and kept the rest of the pieces--coat-tights-loafers--in black. I did think about playing with layers, but we had a bit of a warm front here these past few days, and this simple pea-coat was more than enough coverage.

Post Holiday Hygge

coat-H&M(more options  here ), sweater- Saks off Fifth (similar here ), pants-Banana Republic Factory(similar here ), loafers- G.H. Bass , bracelet-Gifted (available from Signals ) I took a bit of hiatus from blogging over the holiday season. With two little ones it's hard to find the time to capture the sartorial moments, let alone edit and post them.  So here we are with some mid-winter hygge style thanks to this fair-isle sweater from Saks off Fifth and easy pull-on pants from Banana Republic Factory .  This OOTD is a more casual-day-of-work office outfit, what with the loafers and plaid coat. If I was truly being hygge I'd opt for furry-lined boots and puffy or robe-like outerwear.  I hope to be back weekly here, but as with every year, winter does put a damper on outfit shooting, but trust outfit wearing IS happening.  If you don't already, please follow me on instagram  for outfit-realted, mom-related, reading
