An Obsession Is Beginning

Okay so you may recall my excitement over my new harness from this post.  Well I think I may have a problem.  I want more harnesses and Asos has them here!!!!

I think this one is my favorite. I can see wearing it with a long flowing maxi dress to give it shape and add some edge to a hippy dippy look for summer.

Um yeah, boobs in a cage may not be the best look for me.

This is much more subtle then the two above and could be very elegant.

This is so badass and I love how futuristic/robotic it looks.

I heart this so bad! The color is cool and sure the model is wearing a neutral/romantic dress I can see this with some of my plaid button shirts.

For the most part all of these items are in the $30-$40 range, which is way cheaper then my Zana Bayne harness.  And I think $30ish dollars for a novelty accessory isn't bad.  However, at times like these I hear my mother's voice in my head... Mom: "Bernadette, honey girl, where would you ever wear something like that?"  Me: "Everywhere!" Mom: "People are going to think you are quite odd." Me: "Well aren't I?"  Mom: "Yes but you don't have to advertise it."

I may have to content myself with this harness inspired T-shit, not as extreme, but a wink to my obsession.

  1. That first one is super cool but unless you have an 18 inch waist and 19 inch hips it's going to a hard one to pull off. It looks great on that waaaay too skinny model. Though, I'm kind of worried about her.

  2. I love the one with the white t-shirt. Great way to go from boring to rock star...I am even picturing the shoes I could wear with it...

40 Year Old Cottagecore

dress-Anthropologie(more options here ), sunnies- DIFF Eyewear , necklace- Benevolence LA , bag-- Shiraleah , sandals- Born I first became aware of Cottagecore earlier this summer and found it to be an aesthetic I can appreciate and find aspirational , but was not necessarily a style that aligned with my wheelhouse. Well as I've been growing my hair during covid quarantine and having picked up this dress as seen here , I felt that I was ready to tackle #cottagecore here on my 40th birthday!!! Yep, that's right today I turn 40 (but I don't look it). And while it's been a year like no other, I feel excited for my next year, decade, chapter of my life. I think it's fair to say I'm done having babies and ready to move on from the chaos of very little children to the chaos of big kids.  I no longer feel like I have something to proof in my work, writing, sense of self. I'm just going to enjoy and be grateful for the many blessings of family, friends, health, a...

Two Things

First: Isabel Marant's collocation for H&M debuts today in select stores AND online at noon, so you may want to get up on that.  Here are a few looks I'm lusting after. Hello mixed patterns!   Love the oversized coat and the detail on these jeans.   Patterned blazer, cropped colorful trousers, yes please!   Of course, I cannot partake in this collection with my Year Of No Shopping, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't. So get ready to go by noon because I'm sure this noise will sell out fast.   Number Two: I'm thinking about a new haircut.  Something along the lines of Tilda Swinton .     What do we think? I'm not going to go blond, but I like the shorter/buzzed sides and back with length on the top. Mr. Keller is hesitant, he thinks it's too masculine, but I'm kind of in the mood to go a bit edgy and I've had the same cut now for two-ish years...  FYI: Tilda Swinton is my spirit animal!   ...

Gift Guide Part 3--Literature

So far I've covered beauty products and socks in this year's round of gift guides, which are prefect gift categories for the coming winter. To add to that list--reading! Here are a few books from my Books Worth Reading Pinterest board, first up--poetry! James Allen Hall's "I Liked You Better Before I Knew You So Well" from the CSU Poetry Center I LOVED Hall's 1st book   Now You're the Enemy , which won awards from the Texas Institute of Letters, the Lambda Literary Foundation, and the Fellowship of Southern Writers. So this is on my personal wish list to read here during the snowy days to come.  Anthology from Mason Jar Press "The Black Ladies Brunch Collective’s Poetry Anthology,  Not Without Our Laughter ,  is a collection of humorous and joyful poems, riffing on Langston Hughes’s novel  Not Without Laughter . It explores topics of family, work, love and sexuality. The women of BLBC believe, like Hughes, that even in these ...
