Wait a minute, this is actually a dress not a tunic and there go my pants! |

For an alumni mixer last week at the Elbow Room on Walnut St. in Shadyside I went for a sporty cocktail look, pairing silky PJ pants with a drapey "tunic" and booties. I really liked the look as it was, but it being January I felt a blazer would be practical and lucked out with how well the blue of the blazer went with the sporty stripe of the pant. Accessory-wise I just went with a simple silver chain and cuff. I think if you're going for a sporty type look you don't want to have complicated jewelry, keep the lines simple and clean.
And yes, that is a dress, not just a top. I've done the dress as top trick before, as seen here. You have to be careful to pull this off, the length of the dress is key, as well as thickness of the fabric. The dress above is a bit long and made of a thicker jersey material. However, it works because the pants are loose and baggy providing enough physical room for tucking in.
