A Gucci Homage of Sorts

First, the "collar" on this dress is actually a sleeveless blouse layered underneath, which I featured in my "Discover Mango" post last summer. I love working in a collar, it can take a casual piece and make it more office-appropriate, while adding a bit of tomboy flair, as seen in yesterday's post.

Besides the collar, the silhouette of this dress and mix of prints captures the current vaguely 70's Gucci aesthetic, as seen in this look from the Pre-Fall Collection:

A mad mix of prints and embellishments is very on-trend at the moment. The key to pulling off this look IRL, is to not overwhelm yourself with add-ons and overly quirky/cutesy elements. My outfit above is treading very close to the line of becoming costumey. If I had employed a belt, statement necklace, bow, or beret as in the pic above, it would been have WAY to much. I let the dress and the cardi be the stars of the outfit and supported the color story they have set with a collar, tights, and loafers.

First: Isabel Marant's collocation for H&M debuts today in select stores AND online at noon, so you may want to get up on that. Here are a few looks I'm lusting after. Hello mixed patterns! Love the oversized coat and the detail on these jeans. Patterned blazer, cropped colorful trousers, yes please! Of course, I cannot partake in this collection with my Year Of No Shopping, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't. So get ready to go by noon because I'm sure this noise will sell out fast. I'm not going to go blond, but I like the shorter/buzzed sides and back with length on the top. 40 Year Old Cottagecore

Rent the Runway Wedding Vote

I may be on vacation at the moment, but I'm thinking of the future, in particular the wedding I'm attending back home next month. A ton of high school friends will be there.
