The color combination of the dress dictated the rest of the outfit. When you have bold color-blocking in one garment you can either go with that it, or stay out of its way. By that I mean keep the color-combos going or keep it neutral.  Since, going tightless was not an option I went with navy and a neutralish shoe that has a pink tone. Same for the necklace, blazer, and scarf, I just kept up that navy and pink pairing.

A note on tights.  I am NOT a fan of pantyhose, I prefer tights, usually in neural colors like black, navy, brown, and grey. But it's always a good idea to have a few statement tights, like red or polka-dots.  Thank you, that is all.

Rent the Runway to the Rescue

So after the semi-disastrous dress vote from last week I took the stiletto by the heel, aka reserved this Slate & Willow dress from Rent the Runway  for the wedding in July.  Slate & Willow I had my eye on this as a possible outfit for the Tilda Swinton event I attended last month (fancy I know!) But, ended up going pretty casual since it was just a film screening. An AMAZING screening, but not a dressy affair nonetheless.  Anyway, this striped sheath has so many good reviews from a variety of fellow renters in all shapes and sizes, I didn't see one unflattering user pic, so I'm fairly confident this frock will serve my needs come July. Annie Lennox Realness!

Love the tuxedo detail of these cropped pants. coat/pants-Jcrew(similar here and here ), blazer-Zara(similar here ), shirt-Asos(sort of similar here ), shoes-DSW(really cool here ), gloves-Brian Atwood for Neiman Marcus/Target(more gloves here ), sunglasses-Banana Republic(similar here ) I'm feeling very Annie Lennox circa Eurythmics in this outfit, eh? Most times wearing a coat is a necessity, not necessarily an intricate part of the outfit, but here it really makes the look.
