I am 64 days into my Year of No Shopping announced here. And I have a dilemma, a shoe dilemma, one might even go as far as to call this a loafer-lemma. My sturdy, go-to, brown loafers from Bass are falling apart and they are a staple in my wardrobe.
I'm wondering if I can buy a replacement pair? If the damage was merely superficial, I would argue no. However, a rainy morning of runny errands with wet feet is a sign that the shoes are done.

Here's a possible replacement pair:
These are a bit pricey, but so were the previous pair and I had them since 2008! So cost-per-wear is high. This pairs also caught my eye:
So, what do we think? Do I have a case here for suspending the shopping hiatus for a few minutes and ordering new brown loafers? And which pair?
Since you have run into this before. Set a certain amount of money you are comfortable enough spending this year total for replacement items (i.e. $300). Once you run out, you are done. That way you can replace things you need but you won't want to waste that amount on things that you can live without.
ReplyDeleteGood idea. I decided to take your advice on the last pair and try to see if the my shoe guy can fix them. But I'm afraid these are beyond repair...
