No Parking Emergency Outfit

I have mixed feelings about these types of bracelets. The cords can be a bit of a mess and I find myself throughout the day tigthening them up.

blazer-Asos(similar here), dress-Anthropoloige(kind of similar here), necklace-Bauble Bar, bracelets-Hiptique, heels-Zara

Another case of  color extravaganza with a repeat showing of the heels from this post.  In terms of color you really can't go wrong with accessorizing this dress, just pick out colors from the pattern and go for it.  This dress is a bit risque for work, but the structure of the blazer makes it totally appropriate. I love this blazer, the fit and feel are amazing. I really have to stop myself from wearing it with almost every outfit, I don't want to make my other blazers jealous, clothing has feelings too.

I also want to highlight two retailers in this post. First Bauble Bar which has a wide range of fun jewelry and price points. Every Friday they send me a "hidden bauble" email wherein they give out a hint as to an item that's on sale for $10.  This necklace was a result, I have another on the way.

Second, Hiq'tique a Pittsburgh boutique in Shadyside.  I will admit I've only ever been to the store once, but it's one of those places I feel I should go to more often. Whenever I pass by it I kick myself for not having more time to stop in.  They do offer online shopping, but the pictures aren't that great, it's a much better experience to visit the actual store.

40 Year Old Cottagecore

dress-Anthropologie(more options here ), sunnies- DIFF Eyewear , necklace- Benevolence LA , bag-- Shiraleah , sandals- Born I first became aware of Cottagecore earlier this summer and found it to be an aesthetic I can appreciate and find aspirational , but was not necessarily a style that aligned with my wheelhouse. Well as I've been growing my hair during covid quarantine and having picked up this dress as seen here , I felt that I was ready to tackle #cottagecore here on my 40th birthday!!! Yep, that's right today I turn 40 (but I don't look it). And while it's been a year like no other, I feel excited for my next year, decade, chapter of my life. I think it's fair to say I'm done having babies and ready to move on from the chaos of very little children to the chaos of big kids.  I no longer feel like I have something to proof in my work, writing, sense of self. I'm just going to enjoy and be grateful for the many blessings of family, friends, health, a...

Two Things

First: Isabel Marant's collocation for H&M debuts today in select stores AND online at noon, so you may want to get up on that.  Here are a few looks I'm lusting after. Hello mixed patterns!   Love the oversized coat and the detail on these jeans.   Patterned blazer, cropped colorful trousers, yes please!   Of course, I cannot partake in this collection with my Year Of No Shopping, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't. So get ready to go by noon because I'm sure this noise will sell out fast.   Number Two: I'm thinking about a new haircut.  Something along the lines of Tilda Swinton .     What do we think? I'm not going to go blond, but I like the shorter/buzzed sides and back with length on the top. Mr. Keller is hesitant, he thinks it's too masculine, but I'm kind of in the mood to go a bit edgy and I've had the same cut now for two-ish years...  FYI: Tilda Swinton is my spirit animal!   ...

Gift Guide Part 3--Literature

So far I've covered beauty products and socks in this year's round of gift guides, which are prefect gift categories for the coming winter. To add to that list--reading! Here are a few books from my Books Worth Reading Pinterest board, first up--poetry! James Allen Hall's "I Liked You Better Before I Knew You So Well" from the CSU Poetry Center I LOVED Hall's 1st book   Now You're the Enemy , which won awards from the Texas Institute of Letters, the Lambda Literary Foundation, and the Fellowship of Southern Writers. So this is on my personal wish list to read here during the snowy days to come.  Anthology from Mason Jar Press "The Black Ladies Brunch Collective’s Poetry Anthology,  Not Without Our Laughter ,  is a collection of humorous and joyful poems, riffing on Langston Hughes’s novel  Not Without Laughter . It explores topics of family, work, love and sexuality. The women of BLBC believe, like Hughes, that even in these ...
