A Bit of a Spring Awakening

Hello! Oh my, winter is rough and life has been busy, and at the same time the days move at a glacier's pace. Yes, it has been quite some time since my last post, which if we're being honest, was a bit lack luster. And probably no one may even be reading this, but it was a gorgeous over this past weekend, I wore this dress and coat combo and got some pictures!

Wind Gust!

coat-H&M(similar here), dress-Nordstrom Rack(similar here), sunnies-DIFF Eyewear, earrings-Etsy, necklace-J.Crew Factory(similar here), belt-Gap(more belts here), boots-Sam Edelman via Nordstrom

I picked this dress up on boxing day, aka December 26th at my local Nordstrom Rack. I posted about that excursion on Instagram for those who follow me there. I love how this works as both a winter and spring look with the black background of the floral. So far the handful of times I've worn this frock I've coordinated the styling in black, but there are other tones in the pattern, like the pastel pinks and blues, or the more acidy yellow that could be striking on the accessories front as the season transitions. I'm also loving the plaid coat with the floral.

Hopefully, with the warmer weather I'll be able to get pics and post more often as we roll into spring. Thanks for reading!

  1. I love the floral print, gathering, and styling at the neckline of that very pretty dress from Nordstrom Rack,
the styling of the belt from Gap that you cinched it in at the waist with,
and the jewellery you accessorised it with.
You look fabulous wearing it styled with the coat from H+M.
Best wishes for a fashiontastic Spring!

40 Year Old Cottagecore

dress-Anthropologie(more options here ), sunnies- DIFF Eyewear , necklace- Benevolence LA , bag-- Shiraleah , sandals- Born I first became aware of Cottagecore earlier this summer and found it to be an aesthetic I can appreciate and find aspirational , but was not necessarily a style that aligned with my wheelhouse. Well as I've been growing my hair during covid quarantine and having picked up this dress as seen here , I felt that I was ready to tackle #cottagecore here on my 40th birthday!!! Yep, that's right today I turn 40 (but I don't look it). And while it's been a year like no other, I feel excited for my next year, decade, chapter of my life. I think it's fair to say I'm done having babies and ready to move on from the chaos of very little children to the chaos of big kids.  I no longer feel like I have something to proof in my work, writing, sense of self. I'm just going to enjoy and be grateful for the many blessings of family, friends, health, a...

Two Things

First: Isabel Marant's collocation for H&M debuts today in select stores AND online at noon, so you may want to get up on that.  Here are a few looks I'm lusting after. Hello mixed patterns!   Love the oversized coat and the detail on these jeans.   Patterned blazer, cropped colorful trousers, yes please!   Of course, I cannot partake in this collection with my Year Of No Shopping, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't. So get ready to go by noon because I'm sure this noise will sell out fast.   Number Two: I'm thinking about a new haircut.  Something along the lines of Tilda Swinton .     What do we think? I'm not going to go blond, but I like the shorter/buzzed sides and back with length on the top. Mr. Keller is hesitant, he thinks it's too masculine, but I'm kind of in the mood to go a bit edgy and I've had the same cut now for two-ish years...  FYI: Tilda Swinton is my spirit animal!   ...

Gift Guide Part 3--Literature

So far I've covered beauty products and socks in this year's round of gift guides, which are prefect gift categories for the coming winter. To add to that list--reading! Here are a few books from my Books Worth Reading Pinterest board, first up--poetry! James Allen Hall's "I Liked You Better Before I Knew You So Well" from the CSU Poetry Center I LOVED Hall's 1st book   Now You're the Enemy , which won awards from the Texas Institute of Letters, the Lambda Literary Foundation, and the Fellowship of Southern Writers. So this is on my personal wish list to read here during the snowy days to come.  Anthology from Mason Jar Press "The Black Ladies Brunch Collective’s Poetry Anthology,  Not Without Our Laughter ,  is a collection of humorous and joyful poems, riffing on Langston Hughes’s novel  Not Without Laughter . It explores topics of family, work, love and sexuality. The women of BLBC believe, like Hughes, that even in these ...
