The Style Up

I've been a subscriber to Style Up for almost a year now, which entails daily emails with outfit inspirations based on the weather forecast, my work setting, and my personal style profile. You may recall my mention of it in this post.

Anyway, I just wanted to highlight the diversity and creativity of the looks they've sent me. 

This is today's Style Up. Love, love, love the coat!

Another great coat. 

Here's a more casual look. Nothing revolutionary, but another way to add some details to a basic look with a printed scarf. And that lip is popping!

Sometimes they send pictures from online retail sites, which is less than ideal because you don't get a sense of "real world" styling and fit. But hey, this at least features a plaid trousers, and you know I love me some plaid. 

The pics of real woman in real fashion for real life is very inspiring when I'm putting together my outfits. Granted, I don't have the exact same pieces (even though I could get them as Style Up does provide links to "shop the look") but they give me fresh ideas for how to mix and match items I have in my closet. Which has been a lifesaver during this Year of No Shopping! I'm past the halfway mark and I'm desperately need to shake things up.

40 Year Old Cottagecore

Gift Guide Part 3--Literature

So far I've covered beauty products and socks in this year's round of gift guides, which are prefect gift categories for the coming winter. To add to that list--reading! Here are a few books from my Books Worth Reading Pinterest board, first up--poetry! James Allen Hall's "I Liked You Better Before I Knew You So Well" from the CSU Poetry Center I LOVED Hall's 1st book   Now You're the Enemy , which won awards from the Texas Institute of Letters, the Lambda Literary Foundation, and the Fellowship of Southern Writers. Rent the Runway to the Rescue

So after the semi-disastrous dress vote from last week I took the stiletto by the heel, aka reserved this Slate & Willow dress from Rent the Runway  for the wedding in July.  Slate & Willow I had my eye on this as a possible outfit for the Tilda Swinton event I attended last month (fancy I know!) But, ended up going pretty casual since it was just a film screening. An AMAZING screening, but not a dressy affair nonetheless.  Anyway, this striped sheath has so many good reviews from a variety of fellow renters in all shapes and sizes, I didn't see one unflattering user pic, so I'm fairly confident this frock will serve my needs come July.
