It got HOT really quick and after work I needed to de-tux and hang loose in a tee-shirt.

 This outfit got a several odd reactions in the real world yesterday. First, in the locker room at my gym where I got a few double takes at the makeup mirror and some sideways glances. Then several co-workers had comments ranging from "whoa" to "you look like a cut little bellhop." I took them all as a compliment.  Personally, I just think this is a sickening look, you may recall it from this post here.  

Playing around with androgyny has always intrigued me and it's something I do in my outfitting quite a bit.  But, it always surprises me (even though it shouldn't) when other people have a somewhat averse/shocked reaction upon seeing a woman play around with her gender presentation, even if it's by simply wearing menswear inspired clothes.  

Maybe, I misread reactions yesterday and people weren't put off by androgyny, but instead were flabbergasted by the fiercerosity and sickeningtude of this outfit.  Sometimes you have to give people the benefit of the doubt.

Gift Guide Part 3--Literature

So far I've covered beauty products and socks in this year's round of gift guides, which are prefect gift categories for the coming winter. To add to that list--reading! Here are a few books from my Books Worth Reading Pinterest board, first up--poetry! Rent the Runway to the Rescue

So after the semi-disastrous dress vote from last week I took the stiletto by the heel, aka reserved this Slate & Willow dress from Rent the Runway  for the wedding in July.  Slate & Willow I had my eye on this as a possible outfit for the Tilda Swinton event I attended last month (fancy I know!) But, ended up going pretty casual since it was just a film screening. An AMAZING screening, but not a dressy affair nonetheless.  Anyway, this striped sheath has so many good reviews from a variety of fellow renters in all shapes and sizes, I didn't see one unflattering user pic, so I'm fairly confident this frock will serve my needs come July.
