Little Black Dress with Peter Pan Collar

dress- BB Dakota via Le Tote , heels-Nine West(similar here ) Another great LBD from my latest tote from Le Tote you may recall the last one from this post . I love the collar and sheer netting of this dress. It's got some sex appeal, but is still work appropriate. I went back and forth between these Mary Janes or a sultry black stiletto. I think the MJs with this Peter Pan collar give this a touch of sexy librarian, now if only I had bought a pair of my try-on glasses from Penn Avenue Eyewear from this post to complete the look.

Sunburn & Polka Dots

So yeah, girl got some sun over the holiday weekend. This burn comes courtesy of Pirates vs. Nationals at PNC Park on Sunday. Pirates lost but, hey summer is here and I need to restock on the sunscreen.  blouse-Anthropologie(sort of similar here ), pants-J.Crew Factory(fun pair here ), loafers-DSW(similar here ), ring- Le Tote This blouse is so much fun, perfect for a bright summer day. (I know it's not officially summer, but once I get a sunburn and have a hot dog at a baseball game that makes it full-on summer in my book.) The fact that this top has so many great colors means it can coordinate with several pairs in my bright cropped trouser collection. Also the tie front and ruffled collar are enough that a necklace isn't really necessary--my watch, a chunky ring, and these bright loafers are accessories enough to complete this outfit.

Sneakers for the Apocolypse

blazer/pants-Jcrew Factory(similar here and here ), shirt-Gap(similar here ), kicks-Dorothy Perkins(similar here ), necklace/ring- Jewel Mint   So there's a black can with a flammable warning just siting in a back lot in the South Side, of course we have to shoot in front of it. I'm sure it's safe... Anyway, these wedge sneakers are so comfortable and in retrospect weren't the best shoe for this outfit, but you never know when you'll have to run for it.

Drapey Dress

Quite a close up of the open weave knit.  vest-Old Navy(an option here ), overdress- ModCloth , slip-dress-Urban Outfitters(similar here ), necklace/cuff-Martin&Osa, heels-Zara(sort of/kind of similar here ), sunnies- Sole Society From drapey pants from these posts here and here to a drapey dress today. I'm going to type drape one more time, "drape."  This is a straight-up old school performance fleece vest from Old Navy. And this knit dress from ModCloth is so old I can't find anything remotely similar on the site currently. To be honest I was kind of sleepwalking when I put on this outfit. I basically just grabbed a hanger from my closet and wore everything that lived on that one hanger. Obvie, the heels and jewelry have their own separate places and definitely elevate this layered look from sort of slumpy to outfit territory. My co-worker said I looked like a fountain pen with this high-low hem of the slip-dress. I took tha

More Drapey Pants & More DVF

blazer-Diane von Furstenberg(more options here ), pants-Madewell(similar here ), heels-Zara(similar here ), necklace-gifted, bracelet-Banana Republic(more bracelets here ) This blazer/trousers combo was last seen over a year ago here . This time out I've rolled the up the pants, swapped a button-down for a simple tee, and busted out these super-cute heels from Zara that have come out from hibernation now that we are fully in spring. Ideally, this outfit would be blazer unbuttoned to show off the slouchy chic vibe of the half-tucked tee, but I spilled French salad dressing down the front. So yeah, thank goodness for blazers, they not only pull an outfit together and cinch the torso, but also cover up spills.

High/Low Mix

shirt-Jcrew Factory(sort of similar here ), pants-Diane von Furstenberg(more pants here ), heels-Forever 21(sort of similar here ) In keeping with my Summer of Drapey Pants I sported these insanely chic DVF trousers for work yesterday. You may recall them from this previous post  here . I was inspired to pair them with this shirt, which is actually a pajama top after spotting this look from Refinery 29 -- This was from a slideshow on entitled " Every Single Outfit to Wear in May " and since it IS May and I'm all about outfits I took their advice and mixed high-end designer, slouchy trousers with a mid-level brand shirt, and fast fashion bargain heels, hence the title of this post. As you can see it's not an exact replica of the Refinery 29 look, but similar in style and feel.   Interested in more outfit ideas?
